The Privilege of Sonship (Male or Female)

We, who are in the kingdom, are privileged people. We need to take hold of those privileges.

The word Adoption is translated from the Greek word “Huiothesia” meaning to place a son. It has no reference to an orphan or parents who may want to adopt a child.

The word “Huiothesia” is applied to those young men who have reached adulthood.

Hebrews 5:14 says “But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of ]use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

In the Bible, when a young man grows to full age and has demonstrated his ability to bear responsibility, there comes a day when his father, in a public ceremony, places him as a son.

The neighbors/family/friends and village elders are called to witness the event.

It is of great importance for a young man. Everything changes for him.

We see something of this in the Baptism of Jesus.

“This is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased.”                                              Matthew 3:16

  1. The Power of Attorney.

I have come in my Father’s Name.                                                                             John 5:43

  • The Use of The Father’s Authority.

And has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man.

                                                                                                                                                                    John 5:27

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.                                                                                                                                                          Matt 28:18

Discussion: What does it mean to pray in the name of Jesus?

  • A Heavenly Inheritance.

Use of His Father’s wealth. The Heavens were opened unto Him. Everywhere Jesus went, He handed out Heaven’s blessings.

No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven.                                                                                                                    John 3:13

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name.                                                                                                          John 1:12

Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.   1 John 3:2

Having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will.                                                                                                Ephesians 1:5

Discussion: Do you take advantage of your privileges as a son or daughter of the living God?

  1. The Power of Attorney: There is power in the name of Jesus. We come in Jesus’ name.

And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

John 14:13

  • The Use of The Father’s Authority: There is more evil than ever. We have power over the evil one. Only those that have a relationship with Him will survive.

Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.                                            Luke 10:193.

  • A Heavenly Inheritance: Heaven is open to us. We now spread Heaven’s blessings. Peace/Joy/Righteousness/Hope.

Discussion: Discuss ways to hand out heaven at home, at work, and in the community.
