Living On Purpose

PURPOSE is discovered in PROCESS not the PINNACLE of life.

He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

Philippian 1:6

My PURPOSE is TIED to the PEOPLE God PUTS in my life.

I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel, so that it has become known throughout the whole imperial guard and to all the rest that my imprisonment is for Christ. Philippians 1: 12-13

Your PURPOSE is DISCOVERED when you stop FOCUSING on what YOU WANT and start THINKING about what OTHERS NEED.

Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Philippians 2:3

Discussion: What are some areas in your life that you need to surrender in order to consider someone else’s needs instead of worrying about what you want?

My PURPOSE is FUELED through the PAIN God ALLOWS for me.

So that it has become known throughout the whole imperial guard and to all the rest that my imprisonment is for Christ. 14 And most of the brothers, having become confident in the Lord by my imprisonment, are much more bold to speak the word without fear. Philippians 1:13-14

But Joseph said to them, “Do not fear, for am I in the place of God? As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today. Genesis 50:19-20

Some indeed preach Christ from envy and rivalry, but others from good will. The latter do it out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. The former proclaim Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely but thinking to afflict me in my imprisonment. Philippians 1: 15-17

Discussion: What pain in your life has shaped you and how?

My PURPOSE is FULFILLED when I SURRENDER my FUTURE to God’s PLAN.

What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed, and in that I rejoice. Yes, and I will rejoice, for I know that through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will turn out for my deliverance. Philippians 1: 18-19

Discussion: What plans do you need to surrender to fulfill the purpose God has for you??

As it is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. Philippians 1:20-21

Greet every saint in Christ Jesus. The brothers who are with me greet you. 22 All the saints greet you, especially those of Caesar’s household Philippians 4: 21-22

Sermon in a Sentence: My purpose is in PROCESS – involving the PEOPLE around me, the PAIN within me and the END GAME God PLANS for me.

Discussion: How does the devil try to undermine God’s plan for you? What do you have to do differently to display the glory of God in your life?
