Judgment Is Coming

The 4 most visible signs that judgement is coming.

  • Violence
  • Corruption
  • Immorality
  • Desecration of the things of God.

God is a God of love and a God of judgement. Scripture has shown us how God has judged in the past.

  1. The story of Noah: Read Genesis 6

Matthew 24:37

Luke 17:26-30

God saw man’s heart was full of wickedness. Violence and corruption were rampant. God decided to bring judgement with a flood. Noah built an ark and preached judgement is coming. He preached 120 years and no one responded. He was in the center of God’s will. Noah was successful in God’s eyes, but not in the eyes of the world.

Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. No matter how wicked the surroundings, there are still those who can walk righteously before God.

Noah and his family entered the ark, then God closed the door. When God closes a door, it’s closed. When God opens a door, it’s opened.

Discussion: What doors has God opened and closed in your life?

  1. Sodom and Gomorrah: Read Genesis 19

Romans 1:26-27

2 Peter 2:7

Jude 7

God sent two angels to tell Lot judgement was coming. Lot told his sons-in-laws that they must leave Sodom and Gomorrah because judgement is coming and they laughed at him. Immorality and perversion were so prevalent then and it is worse today.

Lot, his wife, and daughters all left, but Lot’s wife looked back. (reluctant to leave)

Discussion: Do you ever look back?

  1. King Belshazzar: Read Daniel 5

King Belsahazzar was having a feast and he took the sacred vessels of the temple and drank out of them. He had no respect for the things of God. Then, the fingers of a man’s hand appeared and wrote on the wall a message: “MENE, MENE, TEKEL UPHARSIN.”                         Daniel 5:25

The king was frightened. He called astrologers, soothsayers, magicians. No one could tell him

what the message meant. Daniel translated the message. “You have been weighed in the balances, and found wanting; your kingdom has been divided and given to the Medes and Persians.”                                                                                                 Daniel 5:27-28

That very night, Belshazzar, king of the Chaldeans, was slain. The same disrespectful attitude towards the things of God is happening today.

Discussion: What disrespectfulness toward God do you tolerate?

Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.                                                                                                                     1 Corinthians 6:9-10

Jesus died for all sin. God never pours out His judgement without a warning, always gives a time of grace so we can repent. We need to stop giving the leftovers, stop being lukewarm, stop compromising, stop being complacent, and stop being religious/playing church. God poured out His wrath on His son, Jesus, for you and me. What if we take 5 steps forward with a closer walk with God? Things will change!

Discussion: Are you giving God your leftovers? What needs to change?
