An Encounter with God

An encounter means face to face. We have many encounters daily, some not good. We want to have an encounter with the Godhead: the Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit. Our encounter must be Jesus centered, personally and corporately.

Discussion: Describe an encounter you have had with the Living God?

In the Old Testament, 2 Chronicles 7:3 tells us “ when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down and the glory of the Lord upon on the temple, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground and worshiped and praised the Lord, saying for He is good, For His mercy endures forever”.

Biblical Encounters:

  1. Abram: Genesis 17:1-8
  2. Isaiah: Isaiah 6: 1-10
  3. Paul: Acts 26: 12-18
  4. Jesus: Matthew 4: 13-17

Encounters with God result in:

  1. A Shake Up
  2. Change
  3. Challenge

Discussion: After an encounter, how have you changed? What are some of the challenges you face?

God is a great God. We need to get away from being like everyone else! When there is a shaking, we can expect change.

Discussion: Do you come to service expecting an a face to face encounter with the Living God, expecting change?
