5 Keys To Effective Ministry (Lessons from the early church.)

  • The church of Jesus Christ was birthed with power, spiritual success.
  • The name of Jesus was lifted high.
  • The early church is our model. Our future is in the past.

And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need. So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.                                                                                                         Acts 2: 42-47

  1. Unity

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, Running down on the beard, The beard of Aaron, Running down on the edge of his garments. It is like the dew of Hermon, Descending upon the mountains of Zion; For there the LORD commanded the blessing— Life forevermore.

Psalm 133: 1-3

  • There must be unity among the people of God. All in one accord.

Discussion: What hinders unity? What are you doing about it?

  1. All filled with the Holy Spirit.

And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.                                                                                Acts 2: 4

    • You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit is upon you.

  1. They preached the Word.

Therefore those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word.      Acts 8: 4

  • Believers who were scattered preached the Word. Unadulterated, not watered down.

4. They Prayed.

Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus.” And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.     Acts 4: 29-31

5. They Understood the Power in Jesus Name.

Discussion: How often do you pray for boldness? Why do we need boldness these days?

And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.                                                                                     Acts 3: 16

  • Prayer in the name of Jesus brings change and victory.
